The description of the P0017 code states: 'Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 1'. I worked for Toyota for 15+ years as a Parts Counterman and later a Parts Manager, so I do have a fairly decent knowledge of basic mechanics when it comes to vehicles. Wanted to charge me nearly $400 to change it. I was told it was a Crank Position Sensor that needed to be replaced. So I asked them to check on the chains again. I also informed them of my research on the codes and I was aware of the timing chain issue and the extended warranty notice from GM. I explained to them that I had brought it in before to be checked for a Timing Chain slapping noise and they didn't find anything that time. So I brought it in to the Dealership a few weeks ago. After googling P0017 and seeing all the posts on the forum about the timing chain issues, it jogged my memory about the recall notice (for the extended warranty on the chains for the 2007 models) I received much earlier this year, but I can no longer locate. When it started staying on longer I borrowed a friend's OBDII scanner and pulled a P0017 code. A couple of months ago the Check Engine Light started going on and back off, only staying on a day or two at a time.
We purchased a used 2007 Acadia 2.5 years ago with 41000 miles.
